You are invited to make up a list (up to 5 in number) of your QSLs in this collective category, and to write a short paragraph about each. Shortwave listeners, international radio monitors and DXers around the world are invited to search their collection of QSL cards and letters for rare, unusual and unique verifications. Many thanks to SWLing Post reader, Tom Ally, who shares a link to Wavescan‘s 2014 Annual DX Contest where you are invited to share your rare, unique and unusual verifications. While we’re talking about RCI, I would also like to thank and Al Holt for sharing the following brilliant QSLs and pennant:

This is a short 10 minute recording, beginning at 1550 UTC, Jon 11,675 kHz. Listeners will note that the broadcast ends abruptly during the mailbag program–obviously the Sackville transmitters were turned off prematurely.Ĭlick here to download the recording as an MP3, or simply listen via the embedded player below:

Rajdeep has kindly shared his recording with the Shortwave Radio Audio Archive and here on the SWLing Post. My friend, Rajdeep Das, recorded it on Jin Kolkata, India. This week, I heard a recording of that final RCI broadcast for the first time. Unlike RNW’s final broadcasts, RCI’s ended without fanfare and quite abruptly. Though I paid a visit to the transmitter site only two days prior, I was unable to hear or record RCI’s final broadcast. Ironically, though I was only a geographic stone’s-throw from the RCI Sackville transmitter site, I struggled to hear any Sackville signals as my location was too close for skywave propagation and a little too far for ground wave. I wrote a post about that memorable experience. I was able to not only listen to the final broadcasts of Radio Netherlands, but also record them. That summer, I listened as two of my favorite shortwave broadcasters left the air within weeks of each other: Radio Netherlands Worldwide and Radio Canada International. I spent the summer of 2012 in an off-grid cabin on the eastern coast of Prince Edward Island, Canada. r/mursradio/ - related to the Multi-Use Radio Service in the USA.The transmitter building of Radio Canada International, Sackville, NB. r/hamcasters - ham related youtube, podcasts and more r/hamdevs - Hardware/Software Development r/flexradiosystems - Flex Your SDR Muscles r/EmComm - Subreddit For Emergency Communications r/baofeng - Subreddit Dedicated to the Baofeng Radio r/hamitforward - Pay It Forward, ham radio style r/MMDVM - Multi Media Digital Voice Modem r/hamspots - Tell others about on air stations r/dmr - For the digitalest radio contacts Redditnet group on the Brandmeister network - TG 98003 - Listen Live - This talkgroup is bridged to AllStarLink node 48224 and Echolink node W5RI-L and on D-Star via XLX216 Module E Related Subreddits Have access to either DMR (on the Brandmeister Network), Echolink, Allstar or D-Star?
